Hi

Can some one please advise on the usage of xhost command in aix.

The AIX server name is pmut3.

The below is the requirement :

Only allow X11 / X-Window connections to the pmut3 server from the following windows hosts:

Citrix Session Host server SRV090
Citrix Session Host server SRV091

The below is the status of my aix server :

Code:

pmut3:/> cat /etc/ssh/sshd_config | grep -i X11
X11Forwarding yes
#X11DisplayOffset 10
X11UseLocalhost yes
#      X11Forwarding no

=======================================================
Below are the commands I have given :

pmut3:/> export DISPLAY=localhost:10.0
pmut3:/> xhost +srv090
1356-200 xhost unable to open display "localhost:10.0"

Please advise me on this.

Find and rm files with spaces in the name

I'm sure this has been answered before, but my searches have not turned up the right solution. :confused:

I need to remove files in a directory, without descending into subdirectories, older than n days. Some of the filenames contain spaces or other special characters:

Code:

E10403 (2)
E20402 (2)
W50301 (2)
Shortcut to enew1.lnk

So far all variations of find I've tried result in The parameter list is too long (e.g. find * -prune -type f -mtime +30).

Suggestions or links to solutions would be much appreciated. :)

I created a mirrored LV (Copies: 2), so next I want to create the JFS2 FS..

Code:

  SIZE of file system
          Unit Size                                  Megabytes

  Mount AUTOMATICALLY at system restart?              yes

  Mount OPTIONS                                      []
  Block Size (bytes)                                  4096
  Logical Volume for Log
  Inline Log size (MBytes)                          []
  Extended Attribute Format
  ENABLE Quota Management?                            no
  Enable EFS?                                        no
  Allow internal snapshots?                          no
  Mount GROUP                                        []

The error I get is..

Code:

Command: failed        stdout: yes          stderr: no
Before command completion, additional instructions may appear below.
0516-404 allocp: This system cannot fulfill the allocation request.
        There are not enough free partitions or not enough physical volumes
        to keep strictness and satisfy allocation requests.  The command
        should be retried with different allocation characteristics.
0516-822 mklv: Unable to create logical volume.
crfs: 0506-972 Cannot create logical volume for file system.
rmlv: Logical volume loglv00 is removed.

I have no idea what I am doing wrong? I am trying to maximize my usage of PP/LPs, so basically use it all up and assign the largest possible FS on the JFS2.

When creating the JFS2 FS, its asking for the Number of Units so if my LV has 6005 LPs, and my PP size is 128, 6005x128 .. 768640MB.. to leave a bit of breathing room I tried to set it to 768000 but the above error happens.

What am i doing wrong.. really would like to understand how to do this correctly starting from the PPs up to creating the JFS2.

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

just a short question:

Is a error label always equal to a error identifier?
So it does not matter if i search for an specific identifier (errpt -j) or a specific label (errpt -J)?

Ssh keys on floating ip address

hello, i have two AIX6.1 machines. one of them is the "live" server that the users are connected to in order to do their job and the second is acting as a backup server just in case that there is some problem with the "live" one. i noticed that when i de-activate the resources from the one server and activate them on the backup server i have a problem with ssh keys because i have to remove the entry of the server from known_hosts file and authenticate the connection again. in known_hosts file i have the keys for the physical name of the 2 servers (ex. server1, server2) and also the key for the floating ip address (ex. server_float). when i switch applications from one server to another i have to remove the entry for server_float and re-authenticate the connection so that a new entry will be added. is there a way to have an entry or 2 in my known_hosts file that will accept connections from either server (server1, server2) without needing to remove the entry and add it again? Thank you

Unable to create a SPOT

Hi everyone!

Ok so I'm trying for the first time to install AIX on a LPAR with NIM.

The NIM:
Code:

root@oaexpnimp01(/home/root) # oslevel -s
6100-08-02-1316

I'm trying to install AIX 6.1 TL1. I successfully created a new lpp source

Code:

root@oaexpnimp01(/home/root) # lsnim -l AIX61_TL1_2
AIX61_TL1_2:
  class      = resources
  type        = lpp_source

  Rstate      = ready for use
  prev_state  = unavailable for use
  location    = /nim/lppsource/AIX61_TL1_2
  simages    = yes
  alloc_count = 0
  server      = master

Now I'm trying to create the SPOT

Code:

root@oaexpnimp01(/home/root) # nim -o define -t spot -a server=master -a location=/nim/spot -a source=AIX61_TL1_2  spot-LPP_AIX61_TL1_2

I check for top 10 cpu consumer

Code:

ps auxww |head -10
USER          PID %CPU %MEM  SZ  RSS    TTY STAT    STIME  TIME COMMAND
root      131076 23,6  0,0  448  448      - A    16:00:59 50:21 wait
root      983070 21,9  0,0  448  448      - A    16:00:59 46:43 wait

I try to kill them

Code:

sudo kill 131076
kill: 131076: 0509-015 Il processo specificato non esiste.

Another strange thing

Code:

ps -elf|grep wait
return 0

I don't understand from where those process came from..

Hello,

I have a directory which suddenly got filled up 100% from 70% ; (this is an oracle directory which has application and database in it ORACLE EBS)

I do make cold backups, last month when I made cold backup of the directory /oratec the tar zip file was 31GB and this month when i made the backup it was 42GB

an increase of 10GB in the zip/tar compressed file.

How can I find by comparing the two tar files which file or folder has
  1. changed in size
  2. size of all the folders
  3. size of large files

thanks

Doubt on NMON - disable detailed disk statistics

Hi All,

The NMON file is getting generated with file size of more than 70MB for just 40 minute duration on AIX 6.1 box, due to more number of disks (Disk0, Disk1…, Disk22).
With respect to disk related details, I need to have only the disk summary, and disable the detailed disk statistics (tabs getting created for each of these metrics for 23 individual disks : DISKBUSY, DISKBSIZE, DISKXFER, DISKRXFER, DISKREAD, DISKWRITE, DISKWIO, DISKRIO, DISKAVGWIO, DISKAVGRIO, Etc), to reduce the nmon file size.
Can anyone please share me the nmon command for this !?

Thanks,
Raja

Issue while importing Oracle Dump File on AIX 5.3

Hi All,

I am facing one problem related to importing Oracle Dump file.
We have two different version of AIX boxes with oracle (version 10.2.0.4.0) installed.
On one AIX box (version 6.1) we are creating oracle dump file (*.dmp) using oracle exp utility and importing it onto another AIX box (version 5.3) using
imp utility of oracle .

We are getting below error :
Code:

25 Dec 22:13 IMP-00010: not a valid export file, header failed verification
25 Dec 22:13 IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully

Any pointer would be highly appreciated.

Thanks & Regards
Gunjan.

AIX Syslog where the hostname sit

Dear all experts,
I would like to know where can I find the hostname located as when I receive the syslog, I can only see as below : (showing in localhost instead of the hostname)
Code:

Feb  6 15:31:31 localhost syslog:info syslogd: restart
Feb  6 15:31:50 localhost syslog:info syslogd: restart
Feb  6 15:36:06 localhost daemon:info xntpd[3604704]: synchronized to LOCAL(0), stratum=3
Feb  6 15:42:01 localhost syslog:info syslogd: restart

I have checked /etc/hosts, hostname has stated correctly with correct IP.

AIX native SNMP producing limited results when walking MIB tree

$

The company I work for has various AIX servers that I've recently migrated to AIX 7.1 (from 6.1). Some are powerHA clusters some are not. Likewise, the systems engineer that I replaced had net-snmp installed on said clustered systems. Long story short I am re-invoking AIX's native SNMP (v3) for use with our enterprise monitoring applications and have found that our clustered servers are producing limited results when walking the MIB tree. Even using v1 or v2, same results.

Now I'm not sure that powerHA clustering has anything to do with it, or the fact that NET-SNMP was also installed, but without fail, the clustered servers produce only a little over 200 results when running:

clsnmp -h snmpUsr walk 1.3 | wc -l
236

My other systems, with the exact same OS version and configuration (minus powerHA and the pre-existence of NET-SNMP) produce thousands of results:

clsnmp -h snmpUsr walk 1.3 | wc -l
10254

I've validated SRC properties, mib files, conf files, etc and can find no real differences between the 2 servers exampled above - again other than powerHA and the pre-existence of NET-SNMP. The limited results are hindering SNMP monitoring obviously. Any thoughts on what I'm missing in regards to my limited results in the first example?

If any conf or log output helps, I'd be more than happy to oblige.

Thanks in advance.
